Glaucoma affects 2% of New Zealanders, and 10% of people over 70 years of age.  It is described as the silent thief of sight because in most cases there are no symptoms in the early stages of the condition.  However early detection and treatment can preserve vision for many people.

It is very important to know your family history and also have regular check with us after the age of 40.  If we identity other risk factors during we will recommend further testing and monitor you closely.
