Our Story

McDonald Adams Optometrists is located on the main street of Warkworth. We are one-off, and locally owned.  Claire McDonald and Sally Adams share a vision of creating an optometry practice with a difference and offer our customers something special.

We enjoy being part of our community, taking time to build long term relationships with our clients.  We understand that seeing well comes from skill and care in examining your eyes, teamed with expert dispensing helping you understand how to make the most of your vision.

There is a good reason we do not offer everybody the same package, you are not the same as everyone else.

Our frame selection reflects our passion for good design.  Being independent means we choose the ranges which you will be inspired to wear, eyewear that fits your life and reflects who you are. 

Sally Adams

Sally is a local.  She completed her secondary education at Mahurangi College before qualifying as an optometrist at Auckland University. "Having worn glasses myself since the age of four, I have always wanted to help others make the most of their vision. Detecting potentially sight limiting conditions and finding solutions to improve visual comfort continues to be what I strive to do."

Claire qualified at Auckland University in 1994 and opened the practice in Warkworth in 1999.  "This is my dream practice - I love being part of our local community and working as an optometrist is an extremely rewarding job.  I enjoy taking the time to build long term relationships and it is good to be able to offer something we feel good about.  Lens technology is always advancing, and the frames and sunglasses continue to inspire with new styles and directions."
