If you are on a low income or benefit there is help available to pay for the cost of eye examinations and glasses.

What you can get. Work & Income pay $280 for
an eye examination
lenses, including single vision, bifocals or standard progressives
frames
fitting of glasses
repairs
a cleaning cloth and glasses case
a 2-year warranty on defective parts
You will have to pay this money back.
What is not included:
high end and large choice of frames
extras e.g. tinting
lens coatings or glasses specifically for Irlen Syndrome
You cannot top-up or upgrade with your own money for these extras.
