Inserting Contact Lenses

With practice most people successfully master inserting and removing their contact lenses. It can be a challenge to begin - our eyes are very sensitive - but there are are some tips.

Tips: Make a space where you can be sitting down while you are learning.

Have good lighting.

Work over a clean surface.

Be close to a mirror.

Allow yourself lots of time.

If you manage to get only one contact lens in, try taking this one out and re-inserting it - practice on your 'good side'.

Take a break if it is not working.

Watch these videos:

CooperVision This is a very clear video. The technique shown holds both eyelids with one hand while inserting the lens with the other hand.

Acuvue. This shows holding the upper lid with the opposite hand, which is a good technique.

Alcon. This is another very clear video to follow.
